MzGee has opened up about the emotional toll that came with taking over as host of United Showbiz on UTV, saying the backlash she faced after stepping into the role deeply affected her.
Speaking during an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the Ghanaian media personality recalled how harsh criticism and insults followed the announcement of her appointment.
MzGee took over the entertainment programme after reports emerged that actress and longtime host Nana Ama McBrown had exited the show. According to her, the public reaction became difficult to deal with because many viewers believed she was the reason behind McBrown’s departure.

She explained that before accepting the opportunity, she reached out privately to McBrown to seek her blessing. MzGee said she believed that gesture would help avoid tension and public misunderstanding surrounding the transition.
The broadcaster disclosed that she had also expected McBrown to publicly support or defend her, especially because of conversations they had already shared behind closed doors before the hosting switch became official.
Reflecting on the controversy, MzGee said she came to realise how resistant many Ghanaians can be when it comes to change, particularly involving popular television personalities with loyal fan bases.
Despite the criticism, she noted that the experience taught her valuable lessons during her time as host of United Showbiz.
