Ghanaian dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has finally broken his silence following the cancellation of ShattaFest UK 2026.
He did so live session on his TikTok page on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to share his side of the events that unfolded at the concert.
The award-winning musician did not hold back as he reportedly apportioned blame to the event promoters and organisers, accusing them of doing what he described as a poor job in planning and managing the much-anticipated event, which was cancelled after a serious incident outside the venue prompted police intervention.
The dancehall artiste claimed that both fans and the authorities had allegedly been led to believe that the gathering was simply the annual Ghana Party in the Park event they were familiar with.
According to him, this misunderstanding encouraged some attendees to arrive with cooking equipment and food items, whereas the programme was in fact intended to be ShattaFest UK.
According to him, the event was supposed to be a purely musical experience centered around his performance, and not the kind of gathering where people would be cooking at the venue.
He further alleged that the cooking activities eventually resulted in an explosion that sparked the chaos that led to the cancellation of the concert.
The “On God” hitmaker also disclosed that he had wanted to travel to the United Kingdom with his own management and logistics team, including his associate Abonko, so they could personally supervise preparations and ensure every aspect of the event met the required standards.
According to Shatta Wale, he had informed the organisers that all he needed from them was assistance in securing visas for his team, stressing that he was prepared to personally pay for their flight tickets as well as his own accommodation, feeding, and those of his team throughout their stay in the UK.
He argued that if his team had been allowed to oversee the groundwork, they would have ensured that no stone was left unturned, adding that many of the issues that surfaced on the day of the event could have been prevented.
Shatta Wale also expressed disappointment with the way the event was handled, stating that he has now come to the conclusion that some Ghanaian organisers based in the United Kingdom are unable to deliver an event of such magnitude to his expectations.
As a result, the SM boss announced that he intends to personally organise another concert in the UK for his fans. He indicated that he may work with foreign event organisers instead, saying he believes they would be better equipped to execute the event successfully.
