Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has announced plans to introduce six-figure acting fees after the release of his upcoming film, Journey to Africa. He said the decision reflects the level he believes he has reached in the movie industry.
The famous Kumawood actor revealed that he intends to charge $100,000 for a three-day acting role in Ghana, while productions outside the country will attract a $150,000 fee.
Speaking in a video shared by Gossip 24, Lilwin said the pricing decision follows the scale of investment and international collaboration behind Journey to Africa, which features several established Nigerian actors alongside dozens of Ghanaian cast members.
“After I complete Journey to Africa, a project in which I’m working with more than six well-established actors from Nigeria alongside about 40 local Ghanaian actors, I plan to charge $100,000 for a three-day movie role in Ghana. For projects outside Ghana, my fee will be $150,000,” he stated.
Even with the proposed increase, Lilwin insisted that money alone does not determine the projects he accepts.
He explained that his priority is to be involved in productions capable of expanding his profile beyond Ghana and positioning him for bigger opportunities internationally. According to him, he would gladly appear in a film without charging if the project offers significant career value.
At the same time, he said producers whose films fail to meet the standards he expects should be prepared to pay his full rate.
“I’m not necessarily in it for the money. I’m looking for roles that will take my career to the next level. If the script is powerful and I believe it will benefit my career, I may not even charge you. I’ll gladly do it for free. But if the quality of the project doesn’t match the standard of the films I’ve produced myself, then I’ll charge my fee,” he clarified.
Lilwin indicated that every move he is making at this stage of his career is geared towards the objective of securing a place in Hollywood.
He believes that his ambitions can be achieved not only through acting but also by producing films that attract international attention and partnerships with filmmakers from across the world.
“I want to work on projects that will elevate my career because my ultimate goal is to make it to Hollywood. That’s why I’m putting in all this effort. I also believe it’s not only acting that can take me to Hollywood. Producing can open that door as well. After my upcoming movie, I hope to attract an international producer who will collaborate with me, and together we can work with Hollywood actors,” Lilwin stressed.
