Ghanaian businessman Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has reacted to viral reports circulating online that he has allegedly named about eight people, including a Member of Parliament from the Central Region, in connection with the ongoing US romance scam case.
The reports, which have gained significant attention online, claim that Abu Trica allegedly mentioned several individuals during the course of the investigation.
Amid the growing discussions, a close friend and confidant of Abu Trica has come out to dismiss the reports, describing them as false.
In a video shared online, the confidant called David Quarcoo laughed off the reports and disclosed that he had personally spoken to Abu Trica through a video call, during which the businessman also laughed at the claims.
According to him, the reports are pure lies that cannot be substantiated by the people making the claims if they are taken to court over their allegations.
He questioned why people would circulate such claims when the case is already a public matter and information relating to the proceedings can be verified through official US websites if the allegations are indeed true.
The confidant further argued that the ongoing case is still at the discovery stage, suggesting that Abu Trica has not yet reached a point where he would be discussing the case with certain people or making statements that could amount to identifying or implicating others.
He explained that Abu Trica has not even been speaking with his lawyer or prosecutors in a manner that would warrant claims that he is providing information about other people involved in the case.
He consequently rejected suggestions that Abu Trica has been snitching on others, insisting that such claims do not reflect the current stage of the legal proceedings.
