The already messy marriage brouhaha between International God’s Way Church founder, Bishop Daniel Obinim, and gospel musician Florence Obinim has taken another dramatic turn following a fresh audio recording circulating online.
In the audio, Bishop Obinim is heard making strong comments about his just-ended marriage with Florence and ordering her to stop using his surname.
The development comes after weeks of public discussions, allegations and counter-allegations surrounding the couple’s marriage of more than two decades.
The latest controversy follows reports that Florence’s family returned the traditional marriage drinks, known as “Tiri Nsa,” to Obinim’s family, which is seen as a step towards ending the traditional marriage.
In the newly surfaced audio, Bishop Obinim is heard insisting that he had accepted the drinks presented by Florence’s family and, therefore, considered the two of them no longer married.
He consequently demanded that Florence remove “Obinim” from her name.
“You have embarrassed me, and I emphasise that when I die, don’t come to my funeral as a widow. Since I have accepted the drink, remove the name Obinim from your name,” he is heard saying in the recording.
Well, it should be known that strangely Florence Obinim recently appeared to have changed her social-media branding, moving away from the prominent use of the name “Florence Obinim” and adopting “Lioness Ministries”.

Aside this firm request by Bishop Obinim, the preacher is also heard making fresh allegations about what he described as the state of their marriage.
Among the issues he raised was Florence’s alleged role in household duties.
According to him, Florence did not cook for him during their marriage and claimed that her sister, Comfort, was the person who handled most of the cooking.
He questioned how often Florence cooked for him in a week and also alleged that she had never washed his clothes and bedsheets.
“How many times do you cook for me in seven days of the week? You don’t cook for me because it’s your sister, Comfort, who cooks for me. So I was no longer interested in the marriage, but I was forcing myself to be in it because you are the mother of my children…and also because we have been married for some time now. Have you washed my clothes and bedsheets before? Do you even talk to me as a wife?” he is heard saying.
Bishop Obinim further alleged that he had lost interest in the marriage long before the current controversy became public.
He claimed that he remained in the relationship largely because of their children and the length of time they had spent together.
The preacher also made shocking revelations about alleged relationships he had with other women during the marriage.
In the audio, he admitted that he had engaged in affairs outside the marriage, with some of those relationships allegedly lasting for several years.
“I told you I lost interest in the marriage. While we were married, I was having affairs with other women, and the longest affair I have been with a woman was nine years. In fact, I was the one to break up with all these women, and the shortest dating period was five years,” he is heard saying.
He further claimed that none of the women ended their relationships with him, alleging that he was the one who walked away from each of them.
“In fact, none of these women broke up with me. All of them were even crying, and I ended the relationship with them,” he added.
The latest audio also touches on the couple’s intimate life, with Bishop Obinim claiming that there was a period when he and Florence no longer shared the same bed.
He alleged that Florence would leave home early and return late, suggesting that their relationship had deteriorated significantly before the current public fallout.
“I have never missed you for once ever since I left you for the past two months. You don’t sleep beside me. When I was staying with you, you left my house around 6 AM and came home around 11 PM. I don’t even miss you because of sex,” he stated.
