The ongoing family dispute over the burial of the late Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka has taken another dramatic turn, with former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo launching a fierce response to claims made by her younger brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Jnr., popularly known as Akofena.
Speaking in an interview with broadcaster Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM, Adwoa Safo dismissed Akofena’s insistence that their father’s funeral would not take place on the announced date.
According to her, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka will be buried as scheduled on Thursday, July 30, 2026, regardless of her brother’s opposition.
In a statement during the interview, Adwoa Safo declared that Akofena could go and burn the sea because the funeral would still come off on the date she had announced.
She also took a swipe at her younger brother, saying, “at your age, you still live in your father’s house,” as the public disagreement between the siblings intensified.
Her comments come after Akofena, who has maintained that he is the person officially responsible for his late father’s body and burial arrangements, rejected the previously announced funeral date.
He had argued that with the backing of the late Apostle’s extended family and the Kristo Asafo Mission Church Council, the burial would not take place on the date announced by Adwoa Safo.
Responding to those claims, Adwoa Safo maintained that all funeral preparations remain on course and that nothing has changed.
She further revealed that she single-handedly organised and financed her father’s 40-day observation, questioning where Akofena was throughout that period.
Adwoa Safo also made further allegations regarding the relationship between her late father and Akofena. She claimed that during Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s illness, he did not want to see Akofena and did not wish to have him by his bedside during his final days.
Additionally, the former legislator warned that anyone who attempts to disrupt or create confusion during the funeral would face the full force of the law.
