When asked why they honoured only Patapaa leaving King Promise, Kumi Guitar and other musician who also had several nominations at the 19th edition of VGMAs but walked home with nothing, Mr. Laryea replied Zionfelix, host of the mid-morning show that plans are far advanced to give the ‘Selfish’ singer an award due to his good works as an artiste.
“We would embark on this activity to recognise creative people who have done a lot but are not being rewarded. What we did with Patapaa is just the first of the many we will be doing in the coming days and I think Ghanaians are welcoming it. Fortunately on that night we honoured Patapaa, we had King Promise performing so we had a long chat and I believe he will also be having his soon.” Dennies Laryea stated.
Explaining why the ‘One Corner’ hitmaker was surprised with the Most Popular Song Of The Year honoury award, Dennis Laryea revealed that “We are all aware that Patapaa did a good job last year. We feel his song went very far. Huawei works with a lot of Chinese and they all love the song One Corner so to motivate him, we felt like doing this for him to know that Ghanaians appreciate his talent.”
