Radio show host, Christian Agyei Frimpong has described Adom FM presenter Kwamena Idan as an individual who wants to collapse the Radio and Television Personalities (RTP) Awards organised by Big Event Ghana like how some Ghanaians want to collapse Nana Appiah Mensah’s Menzgold.
Christian who was not happy after listening to Kwamena discredit the awards on Radio Univers Tuesday morning called into the show to rebuke him for his comments. The Onua FM presenter opined that Prince Mckay and his team go through tough times to organise each year’s edition so it was prudent for Mr. Idan to honour them instead of talking ill about the awards.
To him, he believes Kwamena Idan has set an agenda to tarnish the image of the awards hence the decision to pull out of the show a few days to the main event. The angry radio presenter questioned Kwamena Idan that “do you know what McKay goes through, do you have any idea how the event is organised?”
He went ahead to state that the Adom FM presenter who believes the award organisers are not handling the event well should be given the chance to put the event together only ones to face the challenges Big Event Ghana encounters.
Speaking to Zionfelix on the entertainment show, Christian Agyei Frimpong begged his colleagues to support the awards since it is the only scheme honouring radio and television personalities in the country. The Onua FM entertainment show host further noted that he sees nothing wrong with Adonko Bitters pumping cash into the awards which include Christians.
The outspoken media personality continued to ask that “so Kwamena Idan wants to prove that he is holier-than-thou? Why would you tell your colleague gospel show hosts to pull out of the award because it is sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company.”
Before Christian’s rant, Kwamena Idan had told Zionfelix on the Brunch2Lunch entertainment show on Radio Univers that he is not interested in the Adonko RTP Awards and wants his name out of the scheme because of the headline sponsor, Adonko Bitters. To him, he believes his beliefs speak against him partaking in an event affiliated to alcohol since he will promote the awards which will go along way to also promote the alcoholic product.
Kwamena Idan was nominated for the Radio Gospel Show host of the year category with O.B Nartey of Vision 1 FM, Frank Kwabena Owusu (Franky5) of Hitz FM, Kojo Oppong Adjei of Sunny FM, Jeshurun Okyere of LIve FM and Agyemang Boateng of Kasapa FM.
2018 Adonko RTP Awards comes off on October 6 at the Accra International Conference Center.
