Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, says he was inspired by God to support a physically challenged fan, urging other public figures and wealthy Ghanaians to use their resources to improve lives.
Speaking on Monday (3 August), after donating a wheelchair and an undisclosed sum of money to a beneficiary identified only as Samuel Ofori, the actor said the gesture reflected his belief that celebrities have a responsibility to support vulnerable members of society.
“God directed me to show some love for Sammy,” Lil Win told reporters during the donation at Sammy’s Atimatim residence.
The actor said he only became aware of Sammy’s physical condition after finally meeting him, despite the young man’s long-standing desire to pursue a career in acting and repeated efforts to meet the Kumawood star.
Lil Win said Sammy’s determination to become an actor had inspired him, adding that plans were underway to feature him in one of his upcoming movie productions.
The actor said his years in the entertainment industry had enabled him to positively influence many people, including persons living with disabilities, and that encounters with such individuals often moved him emotionally.
“I get very touched when I visit such people,” he said.
Lil Win added that philanthropy had become an important part of his life, recalling that he had previously supported his parents during periods of ill health and viewed helping others as a natural extension of those experiences.
He said he would undertake larger charitable projects if he had greater financial resources.
“If I have money like Ibrahim Mahama and others, I would have built hospitals to save lives,” he said.
Lil Win did not disclose the amount of money donated to Sammy but said he hoped the assistance would improve the beneficiary’s quality of life and help him pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
The actor, one of Ghana’s best-known Kumawood film stars, has in recent years been involved in a number of charitable activities alongside his work in the country’s film industry.
