M.anifest has stated that the likelihood of him becoming involved in another full-scale rap feud has diminished considerably. He explained that the priorities shaping his career today are far different from those that defined his widely discussed lyrical exchange with Sarkodie in 2016, on his track ‘GodMC’.

During a discussion with Kafui Dey, the popular rapper reflected on how growing older has influenced both his artistic decisions and personal outlook. While he remains confident in his lyrical ability, he said experience has made him more conscious of the example he sets for younger artistes and fans.

“We are older now, so one is still fierce with the pen, but you take on a different role. It would take a lot for somebody to pull me into that realm of things, outside of just regular braggadocio or one or two shots. Full-on engagement would take a lot because you also have to look at what you represent now, as a beacon, not just to artistes, but to the people coming after you,” he said.

He explained that maturity brings a broader perspective and a stronger awareness of one’s responsibilities, making it less appealing to be drawn into prolonged lyrical confrontations.

M.anifest compared rap rivalries to physical altercations, saying people generally would not expect two individuals in their 60s to be fighting. Although rap battles are a completely different form of competition, he believes there comes a stage in life when people become more deliberate about how they conduct themselves.

Asked whether another rap clash could still happen, the rapper insisted he has never identified as a battle rapper. Instead, he described himself as an artiste who is capable of responding on records whenever the situation calls for it.

“Because I’ve never been a battle rapper. I was just someone who could engage that way on records. It’s still possible, but it’s such a far-fetched thing because that time has largely passed. Never say never, because circumstances can change. It’s just about decision-making now,” he stated.

Even so, M.anifest said he has not completely closed the door on future lyrical exchanges. Any decision to engage, however, would have to align with the principles that now guide him rather than being driven by pride or the desire to prove a point.

“I wouldn’t be as careless. Not that I ever was, but it has to represent more than just an ego thing. Especially if it’s somebody much younger than me trying to engage. We have to respect ourselves more.

“The way I am, and because I’m for the culture, I haven’t ruled it out completely. It’s still a possibility. It might just look a little different because times have changed. We’re becoming more respectable human beings. I have a teenager now,” he further stated.
