Highlife legend Nana Ampadu, gospel music band Yaw Sarpong & Asomafo as well as Wind Afrique will journey Europe this summer for a musical tour under the auspices of the Spanish Embassy, Ghana Union Association of Osona, Barcelona and the Creative Arts Council of Ghana.

At a Press Cocktail to announce the development, Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Alicia Rico noted that her outfit was more than excited and honored “to contribute to the success of this magnificent tour”.

She said: “I know that there is a big community of Ghanaians in Barcelona and in Catalonia and since this is the year of reuniting Africans all over the world, I think there is no greater way to unite and to create links with others but through culture and creative industry… I think we should keep on strengthening these ties.”

Akorfa, a representative of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture was equally elated as she stressed that the tour will help project Ghana’s culture to Europe.

“As a Ministry, we are excited that people like Nana Ampadu, Yaw Sarpong and Wind Afrique will be able to represent Ghana because these are good exports…” she stated.

“We hope and pray that the journey will be fruitful so we sell Ghana to the rest of the world. It’s the Year of Return so the success of the tour will be very helpful in that regard” said Socrate Sarfo, Director of Creative Arts, responsible for Programs & Projects at the National Commission on Culture.
