Veteran Hiplife musician Reggie Rockstone is facing the aftermath of Accra’s recent floods after revealing that the torrential rains destroyed his personal vehicle, leaving him to rely on ride-hailing services for his daily commute.
He disclosed that his Toyota Corolla S was completely ruined after being submerged in floodwaters, forcing him to rethink his transportation while searching for a replacement.
Speaking in a video posted on Instagram, Reggie said the loss of the car has significantly altered his daily routine and increased his transport expenses.
“Right now, I have to be taking Ubers; my personal car, a Corolla S, is dead. The floods killed it,” he revealed.
Although there is another vehicle available in the family, Reggie explained that he prefers not to depend on his wife’s car, choosing instead to make alternative arrangements.
“We only have two cars. I could be riding with my wife, but for my own peace of mind, I’d rather not. So I will have to be investing in a lot of Ubers,” he said.
The Grandpapa of Hiplife further disclosed that he intends to reach out to Shaxi, the ride-hailing platform founded by fellow musician Shatta Wale, in the hope that his previous promotional work for the company might earn him some support.
“I will reach out to Shaxi because I have advertised for them before, so maybe they will show me some love,” he averred.
Rather than viewing the situation solely as a setback, Reggie said he plans to turn his frequent Uber rides into an opportunity to create engaging content by speaking with drivers and sharing their everyday experiences navigating life in Accra.
