On May 23, 2019, the board of the VGMA announced to the world that they have indefinitely banned Reggae/Dancehall Artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale for the shame they caused the awards scheme at the 20th anniversary of the prestigious annual awards.

While others feel that Shatta Wale deserved a harsher punishment because he was the root cause of the scuffle, actor James Gardiner is of a totally different opinion.

According to him, the VGMA should shoud not have given them the same punishment because giving both of them an indefinite ban shows they have been too lenient with the Burniton Music group boss.

The Zylofon Media signed actor emphasized in the interview with Zionfelix on the ‘Uncut’ show that lawfully, Shatta Wale didn’t do anything which can be described as a wrong but Stonebwoy, on the other hand, pulled out a gun in the full glare of the many people in the auditorium which had about 4000 people and was also on live TV was quite over the top and goes against many laws in Ghana.

James ended by chastising both musicians for destructing the awards event which was expected to be a memorable one and added that all in all, the punishment meted out to them was very deserved because it will shape them.
