Actor Sylvester Agyapong has waded into the controversy about what is causing the collapse of the Ghana movie industry, especially the Kumasi industry popularly known as Kumawood. In his view, it is not just about the lack of interest of people in the industry but also the actions of some of the top producers and directors are the major cause of the unfortunate happening.

Sly stated in a conversation with blogger/presenter Zionfelix that some of the so-called popular directors and producers have constantly sabotaged some of the actors and actresses who play a very major role in the industry and as a result the decline in the industry. He revealed in the interview on the ‘Zionfelix Uncut’ show that two top movie producers in the Kumawood industry tried to kill his career out of no provocation.

He added that he got to know about this when he was on set shooting a movie sometime ago when the director of the movie, Batman, came to tell him that a producer who just left their set asked him (Batman) why he was using Sly, somebody they had decided to kill his career. He revealed that his first reaction was to deal with the said producer but allowed the issue to slide because it was not necessary.
