An emotional moment at the final funeral rites of Abigail Kumi, popularly known as Empress Forba, has captured widespread attention as the deceased’s aunt publicly appealed to her to spiritually intervene in the legal troubles facing her brother, Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, widely known as Abu Trica.
The emotional appeal was made during the funeral ceremony attended by family members, friends, and mourners.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the woman is seen speaking directly to Abigail’s casket, asking her to use her presence in the spiritual realm to help her brother’s ongoing criminal case in the United States.
According to the woman, she hoped the deceased would intervene in a way that would frustrate the prosecution’s case against Abu Trica.
“All the papers they will use to prosecute him, make sure they don’t even find them,” she said while addressing the casket. She further pleaded with her late niece not to abandon the family during what she described as one of their most difficult moments.
“Go and bring Abu back to bury your mother and your father. Don’t abandon us,” she added, drawing emotional reactions from mourners gathered at the ceremony.
The funeral took place just days after Abu Trica was extradited to the United States on Thursday, July 9, 2026, where he is facing federal charges in connection with an alleged $8 million romance fraud scheme. The high-profile case has attracted significant public attention both in Ghana and abroad due to the socialite’s prominence and the serious nature of the allegations.
Footage of the aunt’s emotional remarks, shared on X by Infoghana360, has since gone viral, generating mixed reactions online.
While some social media users sympathised with the grieving family, others questioned the unusual nature of the appeal and debated the role of spiritual beliefs during times of personal crisis.
Abu Trica has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in the United States. The criminal proceedings remain ongoing, and the allegations against him are yet to be determined by the court.
