Joe Mettle after receiving an award at the 2017 VGMAs

2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle has stated that some colleagues in the gospel industry doubted his nominations and his subsequent victory.

The gospel recording artiste who has 7 studio albums to his credit made history last year by becoming the first ever Gospel musician to win the ultimate award (Artiste of the Year) at the prestigious VGMAs. Joe Mettle, whose real name is Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle did not only make that history but also won the Gospel Artiste of the Year and the Best Male Vocalist of the Year on the night of the awards.

Commenting on the reactions that came from some sections of the public and especially some colleagues in the Gospel sector, the Ga-born musician stated that indeed some colleagues had the opinion that he didn’t deserve the nominations he got, let alone to win the coveted award.

To him, he took those opinions from the gospel artistes in good faith because he knew very well that not all will hail him for the success attained.

Joe Mettle was speaking to Zionfelix on the Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix show that airs on YouTube.

The ‘Bo Noo Ni’ hitmaker recently released his 7th studio album and it is available on all online and digital stores.
