The 2020 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom Constituency Hon. Henry Osei Akoto has called out Citi TV Journalist Umaru Sanda for spreading fake news.

The PC was reacting to a tweet from the seasoned journalist describing the NPP Members of Parliament as the majority caucus.

On the floor of Parliament on Friday, the speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin described the NPP side of the house as the majority group in parliament, a statement that threw many Ghanaians into a state of confusion. The speaker indicated that he wasn’t saying that the NPP is the majority caucus.

In a bid to break the news from the floor of Parliament, Umaru Sanda tweeted that the speaker had settled the debate on who won majority in parliament referring to Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as the Majority Leader. His tweet drew criticism from members of the NDC who felt he was misleading the public.

Reacting to the tweet, the former NDC parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom quoted the tweet with the caption “FAKE NEWS!!!”.
