Ghanaian actor and comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has added another major achievement to his acting career after emerging as the winner of the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 15th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards.

The celebrated Kumawood actor was honoured for his impressive performance in the movie “Captain Ibrahim Traoré”, a production that tells the story of Burkina Faso’s military leader and has attracted attention across Ghana and beyond. The movie was directed by Jackson K. Bentum, with Lilwin playing the lead role.

Although Lilwin was not present at the ceremony to personally receive the award, he had earlier apologised to organisers, colleagues and fans over his absence. According to reports, the actor explained that he already had prior engagements before he was contacted about the awards event, making it difficult for him to attend.

However, after receiving the award at his private residence in Kumasi, Lilwin was seen happily unpacking the awards with his wife and kids.

He later kissed the plaques a few times, thanked the organizers for the recognition and honour done him and invited people to bring more jobs because he is the best actor now.

Lilwin’s latest recognition adds to the growing list of achievements connected to his role in Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Before this award, the actor had also received international recognition for the same movie, including winning the Best Actor Ghana–Nigeria category at the Sotigui Awards in Burkina Faso.

The 15th Ghana Movie Awards brought together some of the biggest names in Ghana’s entertainment industry, with personalities such as Jackie Appiah, James Gardiner and Nana Ama McBrown among the notable figures who graced the occasion.

Other highlights from the night included Nana Ama McBrown winning the Favourite Movie Actress of the Year award, while actor and content creator Dr Likee was celebrated for his remarkable contribution to the growth and promotion of Ghanaian movies.

The 2026 Ghana Movie Awards ceremony was held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the prestigious Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.
