The Konongo Zongo community was literally turned upside down by the folks in the town as soon as their own, Black Sherif was announced at the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Apparently before the awards, some of the people in the town had gathered at a parricular place to watch the event together.

These people who were obviously eager to see one of their own walk home with the ultimate award could not hide their joy when he was finally announced as ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 24th edition of the VGMA.

In a video that has gone viral, one of the gentlemen seen at the grounds was heard saying on top of his voice: “We have won a VGMA.”

The manner the people of Konongo celebrated goes to show that they really appreciate the manner Black Sherif has been putting the spotlight on the commnunity ever since he made his breakthrough, to the extent of releasing a song titled Konongo Zongo.

Blacko as he is popularly reffered to, won the Artiste of the Year award at the 2023 edition of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) that took place in Accra aftet he beat Piesie Esther, who was seen as the biggest threat on the night to it.

Other contenders for the award were, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi, and Joe Mettle.
