Veteran Ghanaian actor Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr Beautiful, has officially been appointed as a member of the newly constituted governing body of Ghana’s Creative Arts Agency.

The announcement was made public on Monday, August 5, when the 13-member board was formally introduced.

The new governing body features a diverse mix of industry professionals, including celebrated opera singer and former journalist Kokui Selormey, and seasoned actress Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu.

Photos from the ceremony, which have since circulated on social media, captured Mr Beautiful and other board members posing alongside the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

The images also showed Mr Beautiful signing his contract and swearing his oath of office, officially marking his induction into the agency.

Mr Beautiful’s appointment comes at a significant moment for the creative arts sector, as the board is expected to drive key policy decisions and support structures that will shape the future of the industry in Ghana.

Known for his strong political affiliations, particularly his vocal support for President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Beautiful’s inclusion has sparked public conversation about the blend of politics and creative arts in Ghana.

Established under the Creative Arts Industry Act, 2020 (Act 1048), the Creative Arts Agency is tasked with providing the institutional framework for the development and regulation of Ghana’s vibrant arts sector.

Its mandate includes supporting artistic growth, preserving cultural heritage, and facilitating both local and international collaborations for Ghanaian creatives.
