Florence Obinim has challenged the caution often expressed in some gospel quarters about teaming up with secular artistes, making it clear she does not share those concerns.

During a recent interview on JoyPrime, the gospel singer said cross-genre collaborations are not something she has actively pursued. Still, she singled out one artiste she would be willing to work with if the moment ever presented itself.

“I haven’t planned for that, and it’s not something on my radar, but if I had to choose one person, I would go with Shatta Wale. If given the chance, I would love to collaborate with him,” she said.

Florence explained that her interest in Shatta Wale is driven more by his personality and actions than his music. She pointed to his relationship with his fans and his charitable gestures as qualities that stand out to her.

“I admire Shatta Wale for how he encourages his fans to pray and for his generosity toward the needy. Those qualities have made me like him from his early days,” she said.

Her comments land at a time when the gospel industry continues to wrestle with the idea of partnering with secular acts, with critics often questioning whether such moves align with the core mission of gospel music. Florence, however, believes the conversation should centre on personal accountability rather than blanket judgment.

“I’m very open to working with him if he reaches out, because at the end of the day, we’re all human. No one has the right to judge anyone; on judgment day, he will be judged for his actions, and I will be judged for mine,” Florence Obinim stated.
