Ghanaian Gospel musician, Edward Akwasi Boateng, has talked about his intention to formally dissolve his marriage to avoid potential disputes over his estate after his death.

His decision was based on the recent controversy surrounding the widows of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Hello FM, Boateng disclosed that he plans to visit the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to begin the divorce process.

“Looking at what’s happening, I’ve decided to go to the KMA to end my marriage. It’s worrying that after separating from your wife, when you die, she might show up to fight with your family, claiming to be the rightful wife. I won’t allow that. She left me, so I’ll take the step to legally dissolve the marriage,” he said.

Boateng’s decision follows years of marital struggles that, according to him, left deep emotional and financial scars.

He claimed in an earlier interview that his marriage cost him a fleet of 17 vehicles and nearly all his possessions.

The ‘M’akoma So Ade’ singer recalled that his wife had encouraged him to spend extravagantly, only to leave him after moving to the United States. The end of the marriage, he said, pushed him into financial hardship, at times making it difficult to pay his children’s school fees or meet other basic needs.
