In the aftermath of a devastating fire at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is calling on the public to remain calm and patient as investigations unfold.
The fire, which broke out around 12:30 AM today, according to reports, tore through key sections of the facility, including the offices of the International Affairs Department, the GTA’s Call Center, the Tour Operators Association of Ghana, and the National Film Authority (NFA). Although property loss was significant, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
First responders from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived quickly at the scene and managed to contain the blaze before it could spread further.

Witness accounts suggest the fire may have started in the kitchen area of Rockz Waakye, a popular eatery located within the premises. However, authorities have not confirmed this, as the official cause remains under investigation.
In a statement signed by Bright Asempa Tsadidey, Director of Corporate Affairs, the GTA assured the public of its commitment to transparency, promising to share findings as they emerge. The release also noted that GTA is actively collaborating with other agencies to assess the damage and chart a path toward rebuilding.
