Ghanaian actress and television personality Joselyn Dumas has revealed how she lost a significant amount of money to a mobile money scam, using her experience to caution the public.

In a video shared on her social media platforms, the actress explained that the ordeal began when she attempted to upgrade her subscription with DStv Ghana.

According to her, she contacted an individual she believed to be a legitimate representative of the company. The person then sent her a link and requested her decoder details along with her mobile money (MoMo) PIN.

Joselyn Dumas recounted that immediately after sharing her number, she noticed suspicious activity on her phone.

“As soon as I said to him that was my number, I felt a vibration on my phone. All my money was emptied… he was able to get into my MoMo app,” she said.

She further disclosed that even after she managed to regain access to her account and deposited funds again, deductions continued to be made to cover unauthorised transactions.

Following the incident, the actress urged the public to be extremely cautious when dealing with online transactions and individuals claiming to represent companies.

“Never give your MoMo PINs, and always verify who you are dealing with,” she advised.

Her experience has added to growing concerns about mobile money fraud in Ghana, with many users taking to social media to share similar encounters and call for increased awareness and security measures.
