Veteran highlife, musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, has announced plans to lead a solemn vigil walk in memory of his late colleague and close friend, Dada KD, who passed away on May 15, 2025.

The memorial walk, scheduled to take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, will commence at 6:00 p.m. Participants are expected to gather at Unity Oil, Achimota, from where they will march in unison to the forecourt of Despite Media, where the vigil will come to a reflective close.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah said the event will serve as a moment for friends, fans, and fellow musicians to pay tribute to Dada KD’s life and enduring impact on the Ghanaian highlife music industry.

“He has paid his dues so well, and it’s only right we honour his memory in this way,” Appiah said. “I encourage everyone who loved him or his music to join us.”

Dada KD, known for his soulful ballads and timeless contributions to highlife music, enjoyed a career that spanned decades and left an indelible mark on Ghana’s cultural landscape.

His death sent shockwaves through the entertainment fraternity, with tributes pouring in from both fans and industry players.
