Renowned Ghanaian actor Koo Fori, whose legal name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has entered a plea of not guilty to allegations of defrauding a Ghanaian national based in the United States out of $50,000.

His court appearance took place at the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, following his arrest by the Accra Central Police Command last Friday, May 9.

The actor, best known for his role in the Efiewura television series, faces a charge of defrauding by false pretence. He was granted bail set at ₵320,000, backed by three sureties, according to a report.

Law enforcement sources indicate that the funds were obtained from a Ghanaian living in California, under the guise of supporting what was described as a legitimate investment venture.

Reports suggest Koo Fori reneged on the agreement shortly after receiving the money, and then disappeared from contact.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the funds, the victim formally reported the matter to authorities.

Subsequent investigations uncovered that not only had the actor failed to repay the amount in question, but he also ignored a summons requiring his presence at the Dansoman District Court on April 17. His failure to comply led to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
