Entertainment critic and politician, Kwame A Plus, has praised on fans of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, popularly known as the Shatta Movement (SM), for the manner in which they conducted themselves during protests at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Following Wale’s detention by EOCO on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, through to Thursday, August 21, groups of his supporters thronged the premises in solidarity with their idol.
Sharing a video of the protest on his social media pages, A Plus described their approach as outstanding and noted that the SM fans had defied the negative stereotypes often attached to them.
According to A Plus, while protests are common, what made the Shatta Movement’s demonstration unique was the discipline, restraint, and order they exhibited.
“Despite being labeled as infamous, illiterate, and street-based, the SM fans proved to the nation that they value law and order. Their peaceful protest and negotiation skills show that we can express our concerns, advocate for our beliefs, and still uphold discipline,” a portion of his post read.
He added that their example should inspire other groups and movements to adopt lawful and peaceful methods of protest, emphasizing that chaos is not the only way to get attention.
