Medikal has broken his silence following his appointment as an ambassador for the National Youth Authority’s “Red Means Stop” anti-drug campaign, using the moment to address young people directly about substance abuse.
Taking to X, the Ghanaian rapper called on those struggling with drugs to reconsider their choices and walk away from habits that could derail their future. He acknowledged his own imperfections, making it clear that his message is rooted in lived experience rather than moral superiority.
“As an ambassador against drug abuse, I stand for life, growth, and purpose. Drugs only bring destruction. Let’s protect our future and say NO to drugs and substance abuse! As your ‘Red Means Stop’ Ambassador, I’m not speaking from perfection; I’m speaking from experience,” he said.

The award-winning artiste also disclosed that he has given up smoking and drinking alcohol, describing the shift as a turning point in his personal journey. According to him, stepping away from those habits has brought clarity and growth.
“I used to drink and smoke, but trust me, it doesn’t help you grow. Quitting was one of the best decisions I ever made. Let’s stop smoking, drinking, and abusing substances. Stop drugs, stop self-destruction, and stay focused,” he added.
Under the NYA initiative, Medikal is expected to take the campaign beyond social media. His responsibilities will include visiting schools for outreach engagements, embedding anti-drug themes in his music videos and stage performances, making public appearances, and using digital platforms to connect with young people in support of the “Red Means Stop” message.
