Veteran Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has addressed claims made by Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu in a resurfaced 2020 video that has reignited public debate online.

In the old footage, Kwaku Manu weighed in on Mzbel’s widely publicised feud with actress Tracey Boakye, which at the time centred around an alleged wealthy individual believed by many to be a politician.

During his commentary, the actor criticised both women for their public dispute and urged them to put an end to the feud.

He also suggested that they had financially benefited from their alleged association with the unnamed individual, claiming they had been gifted houses and vehicles.

Reacting in a video shared on her Facebook page, Mzbel strongly refuted the claims, stating that they created a false narrative about her life and achievements.

According to the singer, she has never received any property or luxury items from any politician, whether from the National Democratic Congress or the New Patriotic Party.

“Nobody has bought a house for me… The house I live in belongs to me… The car I drive is mine,” she stated.

Mzbel emphasised that her assets, including her home and vehicles, were acquired through her music career and business ventures.

The musician expressed concern that such allegations could put her safety at risk, suggesting that false perceptions about her wealth could make her a target for criminal activity.

She also questioned why critics would assume she had received gifts from politicians when, according to her, she has not been supported by them.

Mzbel further revealed her dissatisfaction with the ruling NDC, stating that despite her efforts and contributions during the 2024 general elections, she has not received the level of recognition or opportunities she expected.

She indicated that she had anticipated bookings and support from the party following their return to power but claims she has been sidelined.

The resurfaced video and Mzbel’s response have sparked fresh conversations on social media about celebrity influence, political affiliations, and the assumptions often made about public figures’ sources of wealth.
