Ghanaian singer, entrepreneur and media personality, Mzbel, has opened up about a devastating experience that cost her a whopping Ghc2 million.

Speaking with award-winning vlogger/blogger Zionfelix on the Uncut Show, the “16 Years” hitmaker narrated how she fell victim to a sophisticated scam.

According to Mzbel, the ordeal began after a lady identified as Janice was introduced to her for a business deal. Janice, in turn, linked her to a supposed wealthy godmother based in the UK.

Mzbel recounted that Janice told her the said godmother was organizing a grand birthday party in the UK and wanted her to perform.

Mzbel revealed that when she quoted her rate and this godmother shockingly doubled the figure, making her believe the woman was genuinely rich and generous. Filled with excitement and trust, she later entertained another deal introduced by the same woman through Janice.

The deal involved finding people interested in traveling to the UK, charging €6,000 per person, with half the amount to be paid upfront. The rest, she was told, would be deducted from their salaries once they started working in the UK.

Despite numerous warnings from concerned friends who suspected it was a scam, Mzbel disclosed that Janice constantly reassured her that the deal was legitimate.

Unfortunately, her worst fears were confirmed when two individuals who had paid demanded their money back, but neither Janice nor the so-called godmother could provide refunds.

Shaken by the development, Mzbel said she contacted her friend, Minalyn, who revealed that she too had fallen victim to the same trickster, along with many others.

The singer stressed that she has since reported the matter to the Police, who are currently handling the case. However, in a surprising twist, Mzbel disclosed that the fraudster is now attempting to drag her name into the scandal by accusing her of being an accomplice.

Despite the smear, Mzbel firmly stated that she will not rest until she clears her name and recovers the Ghc2 million she spent while trying to maintain her credibility and protect her reputation.
