What began as a routine radio interview quickly veered into candid territory when a listener confronted gospel star and senior police officer ACP Kofi Sarpong with a blunt question about integrity.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, who balances his law enforcement career with a prominent presence in Ghana’s gospel music scene, was asked live on air whether he had ever taken a bribe, either in uniform or as a musician.

During an interview on Hitz FM on January 26, 2026, Sarpong laughed before replying, “Not at all… never.”

He did not stop there. Sarpong added that throughout his years in public service, he had neither been tempted nor pressured to accept a bribe, insisting that such situations had simply never arisen in his career.

As the discussion continued, attention turned to how his rising rank within the Ghana Police Service might affect his music. Sarpong acknowledged that his musical output would be shaped by the demands of his official duties, but stressed that promotion would not extinguish his purpose as a gospel singer.

“It will depend on the workload on me but the talent is from God and I can’t hide it. So, when I climb up the ladder, any opportunity that I will have, I will do what God asked me to do,” he states.

ACP Kofi Sarpong also shed light on his creative process, explaining that while he writes some of his own songs, he also collaborates with other writers when crafting his music.
