The family of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially confirmed the date and venues for his one-week celebration and funeral rites.
During a press briefing by the Abusuapanyin (Family Head) of the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, it was announced that the one-week observation will take place in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025, while the final funeral rites will be held in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

Speaking at a press conference, the family head revealed that the decision came after the family paid a formal visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to inform him about the passing of his royal son, Daddy Lumba.
“When we officially informed the Asantehene of the passing of Daddy Lumba, he reminded us that Daddy Lumba is a royal,” the family head noted.
He added that after Otumfour said this he understood the message for which reason they have decided that while the one-week observation can take place in Accra for the convenience of fans and sympathizers, the funeral itself must be held in Kumasi, where his body will be presented to the Asantehene, in accordance with royal tradition.
As part of the customary processes, the family also noted plans to pay a visit to the Ga Mantse in Accra to formally inform him of Daddy Lumba’s passing and the upcoming funeral arrangements, as a show of respect and proper protocol.
Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness. His family has since called for privacy as they mourn the loss of the music icon, who was aged 60. Tributes have since poured in from across the globe, with public figures, musicians, fans, and political leaders honoring his immense contribution to Ghanaian music and culture.
