The final funeral rites of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, appear set to proceed at the Heroes Park of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, despite a fresh court battle that could halt the entire ceremony just hours before it begins.

For months, preparations toward the funeral have been overshadowed by intense disputes, conflicting announcements, and multiple lawsuits among various factions in the singer’s family.

Matters escalated further on Thursday, December 11, 2025, when five maternal relatives of the late musician, Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso, Robert Gyamfi (Wofa Yaw Poku Asuafua), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosuh, and Nana Afia Kobi Parkoso, filed a new suit at the Accra High Court.

In this latest application, the relatives are seeking a restraining order to halt the release of Daddy Lumba’s body, freeze activities, and suspend all transactions related to the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation account until a final ruling is delivered.

Their argument is that no funeral plans or financial dealings should proceed without their explicit approval.

The High Court is expected to deliver its ruling today, Friday, December 12, 2025, barely hours before the scheduled commencement of the funeral.

Should the ruling go in favour of Lumba’s maternal family, the funeral will not be allowed to come off.

Yet, despite the looming uncertainty, the atmosphere at Heroes Park tells a different story.

Fresh videos that surfaced online late Thursday night show Palace Home, the organisation contracted to decorate and set up the event grounds, busily transforming the venue.

Workers were seen rolling out beautiful carpets, mounting canopies, arranging chairs and tables, installing an elaborate sound system, setting up a raised stage, and putting finishing touches to what appears to be a massive gathering expected to attract fans, colleagues, and dignitaries.

Some fans who visited the venue on Thursday evening to verify whether the funeral preparations were indeed ongoing shared their sentiments openly.

Many were emphatic that they would still come to the grounds regardless of the court’s ruling.

One man remarked humorously that even if the funeral is ultimately halted, they would drink and go home, because they simply wanted to be there to honour Lumba in their own way.

For now, all roads lead to Heroes Park, which remains fully decorated and ready to host thousands from Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 14, 2025, should the court give the green light.
