The family of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba has issued a strong warning to fan clubs, individuals, and members of the public ahead of the official commencement of funeral activities.
Speaking in a video seen on the Instagram page of Gossip24 TV, the head of the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, Abusuapanin Kofi Abraham expressed disappointment over the circulation of unauthorized T-shirts and merchandise bearing the name or image of the music icon.
According to the family head, some fan groups and individuals have begun producing and selling branded items without the family’s knowledge or approval, an act he described as completely illegal.
He warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in such activities.
“Currently, some fan clubs are producing unauthorized T-shirts without the family’s knowledge. If you do not inform us about this, you may face legal action from our team,” he said sternly.
He emphasized that all activities, tributes, and merchandise connected to the late musician must be officially approved by the family in order to preserve and protect Daddy Lumba’s legacy.
In addition to the warning about unauthorized merchandise, the family head also made it clear that reckless driving and drinking during the one week celebration will not be tolerated.
He explained that Daddy Lumba is a royal, and therefore all events in his honor must reflect the dignity of his royal background.
As of today, August 5, 2025, the family has officially announced that the One Week Celebration of Daddy Lumba will be held in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025, while the funeral will follow in Kumasi, in accordance with tradition, on a date to be communicated soon by the family.
