Ghanaian comic actor Funny Face has once again blended humour with personal reflection as he opened up about his experiences during mental health treatment at psychiatric facilities in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, the actor recounted some of the memorable moments he experienced while receiving treatment at the psychiatric unit of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and later at Pantang Hospital.

According to the actor, his celebrity status made him a familiar figure among patients at the facilities, with many approaching him during moments of boredom.

Funny Face narrated that some of his most unforgettable moments involved interactions with fellow patients who, despite battling their own mental health conditions, still attempted to counsel and advise him.

“Imagine someone who is crazier than you coming to advise you. I had a friend in there, and after hearing my story, he told me my situation is even worse. Imagine someone who has spent seven years in a psychiatric ward advising me and feeling pity for my condition,” he said amid laughter.

The comedian further explained that in an attempt to connect with some patients and make them feel understood, he often joined in their unusual conversations and activities.

“In my quest to make them feel I understand them, I also indulged them. And the nurses would be watching us, marking me that my situation was not getting better. We ate imaginary food on the floor and had weird conversations that made no sense,” he recounted humorously.

Funny Face’s comments have generated reactions online, with many social media users praising him for being open about his mental health struggles while still finding humour in difficult experiences.
