Stonebwoy has added his voice to the growing concerns over Accra’s recurring flooding crisis. He called for urgent action from both citizens and authorities after heavy rains caused widespread devastation across parts of Greater Accra on June 29, 2026.
The Bhim Nation president took to his X page to express support for residents affected by the disaster, while stressing the need for long-term measures to address the challenges that continue to leave communities vulnerable whenever torrential rains hit the capital.
“Seeing the flood reports across the capital. My heart is with every family and community affected,” he wrote.
Stonebwoy said tackling Accra’s flooding situation requires a shared commitment, urging residents to play their part by protecting drainage systems and avoiding activities that worsen flooding risks.
He appealed to people to stop dumping waste into gutters, stay away from building on waterways, and ensure homes are fitted with proper drainage structures to allow rainwater to move freely.

“Beyond today, we all have a role to play — by not dumping refuse in drainage systems, avoiding building structures in waterways, and ensuring that households construct proper drainage systems to help ease water flow.
“I also plead with the authorities to urgently desilt and, where needed, widen and reconstruct major drainage channels across the capital to cope with increasing water volumes. Please stay safe, look out for one another, and follow all safety advisories from NADMO and the relevant authorities,” he wrote.
Stonebwoy further called on government institutions to take immediate steps to improve the city’s drainage network, including clearing blocked channels and upgrading major infrastructure to withstand the increasing pressure from stormwater.
His remarks followed hours of heavy rainfall that swept through Accra on June 29, 2026, leaving several communities flooded, disrupting movement, and trapping many commuters on major roads.
The disaster also resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property, and major traffic disruptions across different parts of the capital. The latest flooding has once again drawn attention to Accra’s long-running drainage problems and the urgent need for sustainable solutions.
