Awal is seeking a fresh start with some of the biggest names in Ghana’s music industry as he offers a public apology to Fameye, Medikal, and any other colleague he believes may have been hurt by his actions over the years.

The rapper says it is time to leave old disputes behind and focus on building stronger relationships that will help move Ghanaian music forward.

During an interview on Okay FM, Awal recounted his long-standing disagreement with Fameye, revealing that their once-close friendship broke down after a business-related misunderstanding several years ago.

The issue dates back to 2019 when Awal enlisted Fameye for his song Akuapem Poloo. According to him, he paid the singer GH¢500 to appear in the music video, but Fameye failed to attend the scheduled shoot.

Awal explained that Fameye eventually returned the money and requested that his verse be removed from the track, bringing their collaboration to an abrupt end.

Reflecting on the episode, Awal admitted he still feels disappointed about how their friendship ended and used the opportunity to apologise.

“I had issues with Fameye. I don’t even know how it ended, but there was a misunderstanding between us. I don’t know how he felt. Maybe he felt really bad. I would like to tell him that if I’ve stepped on his toes, I’m sorry. We were friends and there was business involved, but sometimes I feel bad that we don’t have that kind of vibe anymore,” Awal said.

He also addressed his past differences with rapper Medikal, saying their fallout was rooted in the competitive spirit that defines hip-hop, where artists often exchange lyrical jabs.

“As for Medikal, I recorded a song, Take It or Leave It. In the hip-hop fraternity, it’s part of the culture to take shots at someone. Medikal also used to like me and support me, but through rap culture, one way or the other, I stepped on his toes,” he stated.

Apart from the two artistes, Awal extended an olive branch to everyone in the creative arts space who may have been offended by his words or actions.

He appealed for forgiveness and called on industry players to set aside personal differences in the interest of advancing Ghana’s music industry.

“To all my colleagues in the industry, if I’ve stepped on your toes in one way or another, I want to say please find a place in your heart to forgive me. Let’s do this together because we are doing this for the culture. Let’s put Ghana on the map,” Awal pleaded.
