Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP) Adwoa Safo and her brother Kwadwo Safo Jnr have become the center of online discussion following the resurfacing of an awkward video showing a tense moment between the two siblings.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, was captured during the 40-day observance of their late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies.
The ceremony took place on October 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex.
In the viral clip, Kwadwo Safo Jnr is seen walking toward his seat and greeting his siblings one after the other.
However, when he reached Adwoa Safo, she appeared visibly disinterested and refused to shake his hand. In an awkward twist, Kwadwo Safo Jnr took her limp hand and shook it briefly before moving on a moment that immediately drew public attention and speculation about their strained relationship.
The resurfaced footage has reignited conversations about the alleged feud between the two siblings following the passing of their father on September 11, 2025.
The late Apostle’s death was formally announced in a statement released by Adwoa Safo, his daughter and designated heir apparent, on September 14.
Tensions between the siblings reportedly escalated after the announcement, with both allegedly claiming leadership roles within the Kantanka empire.
The dispute took a dramatic turn when a statement purportedly issued by the Safo family warned the public not to engage in any funeral or business transactions with Kwadwo Safo Jnr, also known as Akofena, stating that such dealings would be “at their own risk.”
While neither Adwoa Safo nor Kwadwo Safo Jnr has publicly commented on the viral video or the reported family division, the incident has fueled online debates about inheritance, family unity, and leadership succession within one of Ghana’s most influential families.
