Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame, known in private life as Kwame Nsiah-Apau, has shared a personal tribute to Ghana’s former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, following her death.

The reflection came after a visit to the Rawlings family, where the musician struggled to find words that could comfort them in their grief.

“My father died a long time ago, and I still cry sometimes because I miss him dearly. My mother is still alive, but I know that no amount of meditation and mindfulness can prepare me for her departure,” he wrote.

Kwame described Nana Konadu as a woman whose life radiated strength and joy. “Awww awww ohhhhh Mrs. Agyemang Konadu was so strong. She was so full of life and smiles. She was that example I could point to when I was telling young girls to see the potential in men instead of their cash and power. She was a powerhouse of strength, patience, and dedication,” he said.

He added that the late first lady had been a personal inspiration, describing her as a “mum and motivator.” The rapper recounted a poignant moment with Nana Konadu’s youngest daughter, who referred to him affectionately as “Mummy’s other son,” a gesture that brought him to tears.

Okyeame Kwame also revealed plans to channel his grief into music. “I will put my pain in a song for such a great woman. Da yie!” he wrote, hinting at a heartfelt tribute that will celebrate the legacy of a remarkable figure in Ghanaian life and politics.

Many people have paid tributes to Nana Konadu following her death on Thursday, October 23, at Ridge Hospital in Accra.
