In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale’s manager detailed:
Get to know some misleading and misinformation projected by some online media people regarding Shatta Wale & mum’s saga.
• Family Gesture: Shatta Wale provided a three-bedroom house in Abokobi for his mother, reflecting his love and respect for her despite their complicated relationship. A gesture he did from the deepest part of his heart knowing all the things said about this situation in times past.
• Media Misunderstanding: Sammy Flex did not say the house was bought; he mentioned they “got” a house, which some media misinterpreted. Always refer to first video for this clarification and blame some media people for that narrative.
• Mother’s Choice: The mother chose to leave the house not because it was rented, but because she preferred living in a different area.
• Landlord’s Role: The landlord has not made any negative comments; he supports the son’s actions. Misleading information has come from outside sources. Shatta paid in full all the two years he got the house for and no agent went to anyone to demand any money from anywhere.
• Timing of Video: The video featuring Shatta Wale’s customized Rolls Royce was not meant to distract from his mother’s situation; it was just a coincidence. Shatta was never bothered about public commentary regarding his new toy as he has been waiting for this video for a longer time than the day it got to him.
• Emotional Impact: The mother may feel upset with Sammy Flex for sharing her story publicly, which has made her feel vulnerable.
• Conclusion: Shatta Wale’s actions show a commitment to his mother, reminding us that family bonds can inspire kindness. Let’s focus on positive stories and understanding.
NB: The burden of knowledge. Now that you know, what would you do?
In July 2024, reports surfaced detailing the struggles of Shatta Wale’s mother, Elsie Avemegah, amid claims of neglect by the dancehall musician. For over a decade, the situation reportedly sparked widespread criticism.
In response, Shatta Wale, popularly known for his hit song “Ayoo,” defended himself during interviews, outlining various ways he had supported his mother. These included buying her four cars and providing other forms of assistance. Despite his explanations, critics remained skeptical about his commitment to his mother’s welfare.
The debate resurfaced in September 2024 when Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, publicly claimed that the musician had purchased a three-bedroom house for his mother, further fueling public scrutiny.
Elsie Avemegah has now come forward to set the record straight, debunking claims that her son bought her a house. In an audio circulating on social media, she clarified that the property in question, located in Abokobi, a suburb of Accra, was rented for two years, not purchased.
Addressing Sammy Flex directly, Elsie issued a stern warning. “Sammy Flex! I am calling you to warn you that if you don’t stop this nonsense, I am just on my way to Atiave, and I will deal with you. You think I am one of those useless old women… If you don’t stop spreading false rumours about me that you and my son bought me a house while you only rented the building for me for only two years, you will regret involving yourself in this matter,” she said.
Elsie further gave Sammy Flex a three-day ultimatum to publicly apologize and clarify the situation, threatening consequences if he failed to comply.
Adding fuel to the controversy, Shatta Wale’s uncle, who claims to have assisted Elsie in moving into the rented house, released a scathing video targeting the musician and his management.
“I am doing this video to warn Shatta Wale and his manager, Sammy Flex. If you are broke and want to chase clout, don’t use your mother. Because I know the story from A to Z. If you know you can’t take care of your mother, allow her to be because people are taking care of her. When did you buy the house for her? You couldn’t even make full payment for the building. You only paid for three months, and you’re here, and you are chasing clout with it,” the uncle remarked.
He concluded with a dire warning, threatening to summon Sammy Flex to court and predicting severe consequences if the claims were not retracted.
The unfolding drama has once again reignited conversations about celebrity responsibilities and family dynamics, particularly in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. While some fans defend Shatta Wale’s contributions to his mother, others criticize the public airing of private matters, urging both parties to seek resolution away from social media.
The story continues to generate mixed reactions as fans await further developments from the parties involved.
The National Executives of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) have officially thrown their support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of Ghana’s December 7, 2024, elections.
During a press briefing held in Accra on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, GFP Deputy General Secretary Jerry Offei Addo announced the unanimous decision, citing shared policy goals between the two parties.
Key among these are the NDC’s plans to establish a Women’s Development Bank, provide free tertiary education for able-bodied individuals, and implement a 24-hour economy — all of which align with the GFP’s emphasis on women’s advancement and empowering the underprivileged.
Joined by the party’s acting National Chairman, National Organizer, and National Youth Organizer, Mr. Offei Addo dismissed rumors suggesting that the endorsement was imposed or inconsistent with the legacy of the late Akua Donkor, GFP’s founder and former flagbearer. Despite her history of opposing Mahama, Offei Addo stressed that the move reflects the GFP’s commitment to policies that prioritize national progress and party ideals.
He also addressed speculation about potential external influence, firmly denying claims of inducements from the NDC.
“This decision was made purely in the interest of the nation and our supporters,” he asserted, adding that GFP members had already begun mobilizing on behalf of the NDC’s campaign.
This endorsement comes as a significant boost for the NDC, joining recent support from the People’s National Convention (PNC) and adding momentum to Mahama’s campaign as the election approaches.
