Ghanaian artiste and entrepreneur Shatta Wale has announced a generous initiative under his ride-hailing brand, Shaxi, offering free rides to celebrities who choose to experience the service.

In a post on social media, the outspoken artiste revealed that every well-known Ghanaian celebrity who uses Shaxi will not be charged for their ride. According to him, the company will fully absorb the cost and still ensure drivers are compensated for their work.

“Every known celebrity in Ghana who takes Shaxi for the experience will be exempt from payment, as Shaxi will cover the cost and compensate its drivers,” Shatta Wale wrote.

This move, which blends marketing with goodwill, appears to be a strategic attempt to boost awareness and credibility of the Shaxi brand through celebrity engagement, while also affirming Shatta Wale’s commitment to fair treatment of drivers.

Launched in 2021, Shaxi (short for “Shatta Taxi”) was created to provide job opportunities for young people and challenge existing players in Ghana’s growing ride-hailing market. Since its inception, Shatta Wale has remained vocal about using the platform to support the youth and offer alternatives rooted in local ownership.

While some fans see the new celebrity-free ride offer as a clever promotional tactic, others have lauded it as a sign of respect toward the entertainment industry, which continues to shape culture and influence consumer behavior.
