Veteran Ghanaian musician, Tinny, has praised Jamaican Vybz Kartel’s decision to host a concert in Ghana this December.
Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Tinny emphasized that Ghana should seize the rare opportunity.
He argued that several African countries would have vied for such an honor.
“Big up to Vybz Kartel for choosing Ghana for his December concert. It’s a big thing because other African countries would have preferred he was going there,” Tinny said.
“But if Vybz Kartel chose Ghana, then it’s very positive and shows that we’re progressing, and everyone should come around to support it.”
As stated by Tinny, he believes this development signals recognition of Ghana’s growing influence on the global music map.
He further highlighted Ghana’s prominent standing in African dancehall music, referencing Shatta Wale’s past invitation to perform at a Vybz Kartel event in Jamaica as a testament to the nation’s rising profile.
“The whole of Africa, it was only Shatta Wale that Vybz Kartel invited to perform in Jamaica during his event, so our industry is growing,” Tinny added. “When it comes to dancehall, I think Ghana is well represented on the African continent, and Vybz Kartel, I’m sure he’ll be happy here.”
