Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections in Ghana, has today, June 11, 2024, extended great help to legendary Ghanaian gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong.

Reports about Yaw Sarpong‘s illness went viral a few months ago after his manager, Nana Poku Ashis, confirmed in an interview that the singer is suffering from a stroke.

Ashis, at the time, begged for monetary support for the renowned musician and asked the general public to also say a word of prayer for him, especially those who have been blessed through his songs one way or another.

Well, it appears that these calls finally caught the attention of the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

Chairman Wontumi, while speaking after he led the Vice President and a delegation from the NPP to the house of Yaw Sarpong, disclosed that the visit aimed to provide encouragement and support to the unwell artist.

“When I learned about your condition, I informed Dr. Bawumia, and he decided to visit you and evaluate your situation before leaving the Ashanti Region,” Chairman Wontumi said.

“Today, the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, along with his campaign team, visited the famous gospel singer Yaw Sarpong, who is currently under the care of Bishop J.Y. Adu due to health problems. Dr. Bawumia donated GH¢100,000 for his medical treatment,” the post stated.
