Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba, has spoken candidly about the level of support he has received from colleagues in the entertainment industry since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.

In an interview with Sammy Kay Media, the actor shared details about his interactions with several industry figures, including actress Fella Makafui, following news of his illness.

According to Drogba, Fella Makafui initially tried to reach him through fellow actor Jeffery Nortey during the early stages of his condition.

He explained that Jeffery Nortey was surprised by the approach because Fella already had his direct contact information.

“Fella Makafui hasn’t reached out. When the thing came, she reached out to Jeffery Nortey. She has my number, so Jeffery Nortey was surprised. Later, she reached out to me with a different number and asked me when I was free. I told her I am always free, and since then, I haven’t heard from her,” Drogba said.
Drogba also revealed that he personally reached out to some of his colleagues in the movie industry, while others contacted him after news of his diagnosis became public.

However, he noted that many of those conversations did not result in any tangible support or commitment.

Among the individuals he mentioned were actress Salma Mumin, actress Kisa Gbekle, and actor-politician John Dumelo.

Despite his disappointment, Drogba emphasized that he understands that everyone faces personal challenges and financial responsibilities.

He clarified that he is not expecting anyone to shoulder all his medical expenses but would appreciate emotional support and visits from colleagues and friends.

According to him, industry players should not wait until after his passing before showing concern for him and his family.

His comments have since generated discussions on social media, with many fans calling for greater solidarity and support within Ghana’s entertainment industry, especially for artists facing health challenges.

Drogba has been battling Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects muscle movement and can significantly impact daily life. His condition has attracted sympathy and support from many Ghanaians since it became public.
