Akosua Agyapong has opened up about her relationship status, revealing that she is no longer married and has been living as a single woman for some time.

During a conversation with Nayas, the veteran Ghanaian singer confirmed that she is currently single but chose not to discuss when her marriage ended or the circumstances surrounding the separation.

“Honestly speaking, I’m single now, I’ve been single for a while,” she revealed.

Akosua explained that her disclosure was not new, stressing that she has repeatedly addressed the matter in previous media appearances. According to her, she has consistently corrected public perceptions about her marital status whenever the subject has come up.

“It’s on my status that I’m married, and I want to clarify it. I’ve done that on several shows, not just this one. Last time I was on Gifty Anti’s show, and I told her I am single now, I’m no longer married,” she stated.

She also used the interview to clear up years of speculation linking her past relationship with highlife singer Amandzeba Nat Brew to her marriage. Akosua stressed that Amandzeba was never her husband and noted that their relationship ended decades ago.

“Amandzeba was in the year 2000. It has nothing to do with my marriage, and I don’t want to talk about it,” she insisted.

Aside from addressing questions about her personal life, the celebrated entertainer reflected on the public’s fascination with celebrity relationships and breakups. She argued that public figures should not be pressured into sharing private details about their marriages simply because they are well-known.

In her view, the end of a marriage is a deeply personal matter, and those involved are under no obligation to publicly explain what went wrong. She maintained that celebrities deserve the same privacy as anyone else when dealing with sensitive family issues.

“As a musician, your private life has nothing to do with your career. You don’t need to grant interviews detailing everything that caused your marriage to end; the person might be going through worse than yours,” she said.

Akosua further questioned why divorced couples, particularly those in the spotlight, are often expected to justify their decisions to the public. She believes the reasons behind a failed marriage are best left between the individuals involved.

According to her, many relationships come to an end not because one party is entirely at fault, but because circumstances evolve in ways that make the union unsustainable.

“If it is a problem, pack your goods and go your way. If marriage doesn’t work, it’s no one’s fault,” she stressed.
