Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has shared details about his difficult upbringing and how it shaped his current lifestyle and spending habits.

Speaking in an interview with Headless YouTuber, the award-winning singer revealed that he wore only one pair of sneakers throughout his entire senior high school education.

According to him, the experience deeply affected him and motivated him to work hard so he could one day afford the things he lacked growing up.

“If you come to my house, I have an entire room full of shoes. I have so many sneakers I can’t even count them,” he said.

He explained that his friends often question why he buys so many sneakers, but he always reminds them of the struggles he endured during his school days.

Kuami Eugene noted that he made a personal promise that if God ever blessed him financially, he would buy as many shoes as he wanted.

The singer said that dream has now become reality, adding that he has developed a strong love for both sneakers and cars.

The musician also opened up about his passion for luxury cars, revealing that he used to watch his colleagues drive past him before fame and success changed his life.

“It got to a point where people were saying I didn’t know what to use my money for because I was only buying cars,” he shared.

According to him, purchasing cars is his way of appreciating how far he has come and acknowledging God’s blessings in his life.

Kuami Eugene further disclosed that after releasing his breakthrough hit song Angela, he became worried about whether he would ever produce another successful song.

He said the fear of losing relevance pushed him to become financially disciplined.

The singer explained that instead of spending excessively on luxury items such as chains and watches, he focused on saving and investing in land.

According to him, whenever his savings reached around GH¢50,000, he purchased plots of land as a backup plan in case his music career slowed down in the future.
