Public anger over persistent power cuts is finding a louder voice, with media personality MC Yaa Yeboah openly challenging how authorities are managing the situation and speaking to citizens about it.

During a discussion on United Showbiz on UTV, she criticised what she described as a lack of transparency, arguing that the current handling of the outages shows a worrying disconnect from the public. In her view, Ghanaians are being left in the dark, both literally and in terms of clear information.

She questioned the official explanation tied to a reported fire incident in Akosombo, saying the details being offered do not fully make sense.

“Was the fire outbreak in Akosombo really the cause of the problem? In some countries, you receive alerts about issues like these, and they even caution you ahead of time. However, this is not the case in Ghana.

“The least our leaders can do is to carry us along and let us know the real problems on the ground. My major issue with this dumsor is that they should credit Ghanaians with some intelligence and tell us the truth,” she said.

Apart from the immediate power crisis, MC Yaa Yeboah pointed to a broader issue within the country’s political space, where critical national challenges are often reduced to partisan arguments instead of being resolved.

“Because of how everything has been politicised in the country, it is affecting the lives of the average Ghanaian. There is always blame-shifting whenever there is a change in government, so we never get a lasting solution to our problems,” MC Yaa Yeboah stressed.
