Renowned media personality and entertainment critic, Ola Michael, has made a bold declaration, identifying President John Dramani Mahama as the sole political figure capable of reviving Ghana’s ailing movie industry.
Speaking passionately during the last edition of United Showbiz, Ola Michael stated that Mahama’s longstanding support for the creative arts sets him apart as the only leader with both the interest and track record to rescue the sector from total collapse.
“President Mahama is my singular hope for reviving the movie industry. If he fails to make a meaningful impact, I firmly believe that no one else can save it from the brink of collapse,” Ola asserted.
He lamented the declining state of Ghana’s once-thriving film industry and stressed the urgent need for strategic intervention.
According to him, successive governments have largely neglected the sector, but Mahama has demonstrated consistent commitment since his first term in office.
“This administration’s support is crucial for the survival of the industry. Without it, we risk losing everything. Mahama has consistently shown a commitment to the arts,” Ola added.
The entertainment critic called on stakeholders and policymakers to prioritise creative arts as a national development tool.
He noted that with proper investment and political will, the Ghanaian movie industry could once again flourish, creating jobs and promoting culture.
