Fashion entrepreneur Richard Brown, popularly known as Osebo the Zaraman, has made a U-turn on his earlier claims that Kwadwo Safo Akofena had been named the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the reading of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s will.
The outspoken fashion icon has now publicly admitted that he got the matter wrong after misunderstanding the contents of the will, saying he was misled before making his initial comments.
Osebo’s latest position comes just hours after he boldly declared that “Papa has spoken” and urged everyone to support Akofena, believing that the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission had chosen him as his successor.
However, speaking in a new interview with 1957 News on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Osebo confessed that he had made an error and was determined to set the record straight despite anticipating backlash from Ghanaians.
According to Osebo, a lawyer had cautioned him during his first interview not to make further comments because there were important details he had overlooked regarding the succession issue.
He explained that after the interview, a lawyer representing Sarah Adwoa Safo sent him Paragraph 27 of Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s will, which significantly changed his understanding of the succession arrangements.
“During the first interview, a lawyer gave a signal that I shouldn’t talk anymore. He said there is more to that. After the interview, Sarah Adwoa Safo’s lawyer sent me paragraph 27 of the will, which showed that any of Papa’s three children can be a leader of the church, based on the amendment of the constitution that led to us taking the matter to court,” Osebo explained.
The fashion entrepreneur admitted that he prematurely declared Akofena as the church’s leader without fully understanding the legal implications of the will.
“I got it wrong, and that’s why I said it’s Akofena. If I’ve said this by mistake, that it’s Akofena who was chosen as the leader, the lawyer drew my attention to the fact that it’s not like that, but then, the videos had already been uploaded,” he said.
Despite the criticism that has followed his earlier comments, Osebo insisted that he has no problem admitting his mistake publicly.
“I’m not ashamed that I have to correct myself publicly and I don’t care who insults me. Everyone makes mistakes in life and my mistake was to give wrong information to the public because I was misled,” he added.
Osebo further recalled that his original position had always been to support whoever was eventually chosen to lead the church. According to him, his endorsement of Akofena was based solely on the information available to him at the time.
