Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, better known as Daddy Lumba, not only shaped Ghana’s music scene but also quietly harboured ambitions far beyond the stage.

According to Mark Okraku-Mantey, the late icon once envisioned himself in Parliament and even aspired to a traditional chieftaincy role in his hometown.

During a tribute segment on Adom TV’s Showtym on August 9, 2025, Okraku-Mantey revealed that Lumba’s political interest was well-known to those close to him. He claimed that former President Akufo-Addo, a longtime friend of the musician, could one day shed light on the full story.

“I got some ‘filla’ that Daddy Lumba had ambitions of becoming an MP. One day, Akufo-Addo will disclose everything for everyone to hear. He had a special relationship with him. As it neared his time, sickness began to trouble him, and he had to leave everything behind,” Okraku-Mantey said.

He explained that Lumba’s leadership aspirations were twofold: politics and tradition. “He also aspired to become a chief; in fact, his family even came forward to say that he wanted to take on this role in his hometown. After pursuing a career in music, he wanted to transition into a leadership position.”

Okraku-Mantey noted that just as Lumba was preparing to explore these roles, illness struck, forcing him to step back from such pursuits.

Prophet Kumchacha Blasts ‘Nonsensical’ Prophecies Linking Ghana Helicopter Crash To Agradaa’s Imprisonment

0

Prophet Kumchacha has criticized many of of prophetic claims that surfaced after the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash that killed eight prominent Ghanaian figures, dismissing many as baseless and absurd.

The outspoken preacher, appearing on United Showbiz on August 9, 2025, said numerous so-called revelations about the tragedy lack both biblical support and common sense. He pointed to the warning in Ezekiel 13, which cautions against misguided prophets.

One claim that particularly caught his attention came from a Kumasi-based preacher, who alleged that the fatal crash was somehow connected to the imprisonment of Heavens Way Church founder, Nana Agradaa. According to this prophecy, if Agradaa is not freed, the nation could face even more devastating incidents.

Kumchacha did not mince words when responding.

“There are many prophets who have made various predictions, but most of these prophecies are quite nonsensical. The Bible itself mentions in Ezekiel 13 that many prophets are misguided. For instance, there is a prophet in Kumasi who claims that a woman named AD is imprisoned, and unless she is released, another helicopter tragedy will occur.

“If a prophet can make such a statement, it shows a lack of wisdom. God would not reveal something as foolish as that to anyone. The prophet who made these claims should be held accountable and possibly receive some lashes. The police also need to invite him for questioning,” Kumchacha averred.

A devoted fan, Belson Poku, has honoured the memory of the late Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba with a striking forearm tattoo.

“This is my way of keeping his memory alive and celebrating the legacy he left behind,” he said.

Since the announcement, dignitaries, fellow musicians, and fans have visited his East Legon residence to offer condolences to the bereaved family.

Rev Owusu Bempah claims to have forseen GAF helicopter crash

Founder of the Glorious Word and Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has emotionally reacted to the tragic Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people, including the Defence Minister and the Environment Minister.

Addressing his congregation last Sunday, the prophet alleged that he foresaw the disaster in a vision and made persistent efforts to alert key figures in the country.

According to him, he repeatedly called a certain dignitary for three months after seeing the vision of the doomed helicopter, but his warnings were ignored.

“I made several calls and attempts to reach one individual over three months, just to meet him and inform him of an impending tragedy.

“I also told the archbishop to inform President Mahama not to use local flights, or we would not hear good news,” – Rev. Owusu Bempah stated.

Former President Kufuor recounts nearly dying in 2007 plane crash

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has revealed a chilling personal encounter with an aviation scare that nearly claimed his life during his time in office.

Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, the former president shared that the incident occurred in 2007 while travelling with an entourage of 12 to 16 people from Tripoli, Libya, to Khartoum, Sudan, after meeting the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

According to Kufuor, shortly after takeoff, the aircraft struggled to gain altitude over the vast Sahara Desert.

“All of a sudden, over the desert, the plane could not ascend. It had become heavy, and for almost 30 minutes, it refused to gain altitude. When you looked down, all you could see was the desert. Eeeii! What was about to happen to us here?” he recounted.

The tense situation was made worse by complete silence from the cockpit, with the pilot offering no explanation.

Flight attendants were seen hastily moving luggage towards passengers’ seats, further fuelling panic among those onboard.

In a critical decision, the pilot diverted the plane toward the Mediterranean Sea to stabilise the flight.

For nearly an hour, the aircraft continued struggling to climb before eventually making a safe landing back in Tripoli.

The former president’s account comes in the wake of the recent tragic military helicopter crash in Ghana, which claimed a total of 8 lives

MzGee Appeals For Unity And Compassion After Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Eight Lives In Ghana

The recent military helicopter crash that tragically took the lives of eight individuals, including two high-ranking Ghanaian ministers, has deeply affected the nation. Media personality MzGee shared a heartfelt message with her audience, urging empathy and unity during this difficult time.

On her program Gee O’Clock, MzGee opened up about the overwhelming sorrow gripping the country. “It’s difficult to post happy content at this point, not because we cannot, but because a brother’s pain is our pain. In fact, it should be your pain,” she expressed poignantly.

She questioned the purpose of life amidst such tragedy: “What are we truly here for? So, what’s all this struggle for?”

Amid the grief, MzGee called on Ghanaians to rise above blame and divisiveness. Reflecting on the heartbreaking impact on the families left behind, she mentioned the tragic loss of a two-month-old baby and a victim who had recently celebrated his marriage. “You cannot hear the story and not have any emotions. No. No. God have mercy on us,” she said.

The media personality stressed that this moment demands reflection, not accusations. “This is not a time for a blame game. This is a time for reflection,” she emphasized, encouraging forgiveness, compassion, and community.

“Forgiving people doesn’t mean you have to let them back into your life. You forgive them for your own peace of mind. Show empathy. Treat others well in their down times,” she advised her listeners.

As the nation continues to mourn the loss of the public servants and military personnel, MzGee urged people to hold fast to faith and hope. “This is the time for us to hold on to our belief,” she said. “I believe in God, and that’s the only thing I can hold on to. It’s not that you’re special—it’s that mercy is keeping us.”

On August 6, 2025, a Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, crashed in a densely forested area near Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region. The aircraft was en route from Accra to Obuasi for an event focused on combating illegal mining.

Tragically, there were no survivors. The bodies of all eight victims have been recovered, and forensic samples have been sent to South Africa for identification and further analysis.

Raymond Archer reacts to Shatta Wale’s social media rants

The Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, has refused to be drawn into public discussions over the recent seizure of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale’s 2019 Lamborghini Urus.

Speaking at the Jubilee House during a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash, Mr Archer was approached by a journalist for clarification on the matter.

Shatta Wale had earlier taken to social media on August 5 to express his frustration over EOCO’s confiscation of his luxury vehicle, a move that has since generated significant public interest.

However, Mr Archer declined to address the controversy, stressing that the focus should remain on the nation’s grief.

“Oh, for Shatta Wale, we are grieving, so let us finish with that,” he said, referencing the solemn occasion being observed for the eight people who lost their lives in the crash, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and MP Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

EOCO has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reasons behind the seizure of Shatta Wale’s vehicle.

Lydia Forson Slams Ghanaian Media Over Graphic Coverage of GAF Helicopter Crash

0

Ghanaian actress and activist, Lydia Forson, has criticised sections of the local media for what she described as “insensitive” and “exploitative” coverage of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The military Z-9 helicopter, which took off from Accra at 9:12 a.m., crashed near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region.

Among the victims were Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Member of Parliament Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others.

In the hours following the tragedy, disturbing images and videos of the wreckage — including charred human remains — circulated widely on social media and news platforms.

This has prompted widespread debate about the ethics of such reporting.

Lydia Forson took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her disapproval, writing:

“I genuinely despise the gory spectacle we make out of death. The rush to post graphic images, shove cameras in grieving faces, and ‘break’ the news as if it’s some twisted competition for clicks; it’s disgusting.”

Her remarks have resonated with many Ghanaians who believe that the privacy and dignity of victims and their families should be prioritised over the race for online engagement.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Still, the conversation surrounding media ethics in times of tragedy is once again in the national spotlight.
